Event Series Event Series: “My Favorite Films” Series

All About Eve (1950)

March 26 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, 1950

NR; 138 minutes

All About Eve is not only a brilliant and clever portrait of an actress, it is a downright funny film, from its opening scene to the final fadeout.” —Kate Cameron, New York Daily News

This backstage story revolves around aspiring actress Eve Harrington (Anne Baxter). Tattered and forlorn, Eve shows up in the dressing room of Broadway mega-star Margo Channing (Bette Davis), telling her melancholy life story to Margo and her friends. Margo takes Eve under her wing, but soon learns that the young ingenue is far more ruthless than she seems.

The “My Favorite Films” series features tales of romance, humor, suspense, satire, and heroism with films since 1945. These films may hold special memories for you—no matter how many times you see them, they continue draw you in once more. While many of these films are available through streaming, it’s always more fun to see them in the theatre.

Celebrate life’s most delicious moments as we delve into culture, food, and passion through our featured films this February, the month of love.

Make a day of it at the Modern and include extra time to visit the galleries. Enjoy lunch in Café Modern and then settle in for an afternoon screening, or plan for a coffee break afterwards with fellow film enthusiasts.

Screenings are at 2 pm most Wednesdays in the auditorium. Tickets are $5 (FREE for Modern members) and are available at the Museum’s admission desk or online. Click here to purchase tickets online.
